{"id":38,"date":"2008-04-26T08:47:54","date_gmt":"2008-04-26T08:47:54","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/adupree.com\/wp\/?p=38"},"modified":"2026-01-22T18:08:42","modified_gmt":"2026-01-22T18:08:42","slug":"william-truro-will","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/adupree.com\/wp\/archives\/38","title":{"rendered":"William Truro Will"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"font-family: Brush Script MT; font-size: medium;\">Will of <a href=\"https:\/\/adupree.com\/wp\/g\/getperson.php?personID=I754&amp;tree=adupree\">William Truro<\/a><\/span><\/p>\n<p>February 3, 1836<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: Brush Script MT; font-size: medium;\">I William Truro<\/span> being<br \/>\nvery ill in body do now declare this to be my last will and testament.<br \/>\nI do appoint the aforementioned names to be with my wife the are to<br \/>\ndisposition of all my goods and chattels for the benefit of my wife<br \/>\nand children who are to pay so that as all my just debts is paid out<br \/>\nof the property that is left my beloved wife that is left my beloved<br \/>\nwife is ** to have any of the property sold while she remains single<br \/>\nbut should she marry again then my trustees is to take my property into<br \/>\ntheir own hands for the sole benefit of my children til the youngest<br \/>\none living shall be 21 years old then as they are to share and share<br \/>\nalike but if my beloved wife should remain single at how the property<br \/>\nis not to be divided or sold during her life but at her death the children<br \/>\nis to share and share alike their names is Lavinia Mary Howe Joseph<br \/>\nPeter William Anthony Catherine Richard Elizabeth Johanna as the youngest<br \/>\nmy beloved wife will do her best for their maintenance Joseph Peter<br \/>\nand William Anthony is to be brought to trades which my wife and trustees<br \/>\nwill agree amongst themselves none of my property is to be pledged or<br \/>\nsold whilst my wife remains single the house in the Moor is to be one<br \/>\n*** trustees is to put up Elizabeth Johanna and William Anthony lifes<br \/>\nif the *** on the best terms the will be able if my wife should have<br \/>\nat any time 20 lbs then put it out of interest witness my hand this<br \/>\n3 day of February 1836 I\u2014I William Truro I\u2014I The names of<br \/>\nmy trustees Mr. W. Carvofso to hold deeds note of hand Mr. J. Mayre<br \/>\nMr. J. Odyers Mr. M. Sloudea of Redruth Mr. R B. Stephens<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: Brush Script MT; font-size: medium;\">Codicil<\/span> If any of my<br \/>\nchildren come old enuff to work and will not work to assist their mother<br \/>\nbut will stay at home to abuse their mother and family then my wife<br \/>\nwith trustees is t o *** them put in the poor house and to pay the same<br \/>\nper head to the parish as the cost in the house cost the parish till<br \/>\nthey are 21 years old February 19 1836 I\u2014I William Truro<\/p>\n<p>In the Prerogative Court of Canterbury<br \/>\nIn the Goods of William Truro Deceased<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: Brush Script MT; font-size: medium;\">Appeared Personally<\/span> John<br \/>\nBrewer of the village of Flushing in the parish of Mylor in the Country<br \/>\nof Cornwall ***n and James Julian of the same place and made Oath that<br \/>\nthey knew and were well acquainted with the said William Truro late<br \/>\nof Flushing in the parish of Mylor in the County of Cornwell deceased<br \/>\nfor several years before and up to the time of his death and also with<br \/>\nhis manor and *** of handwriting and in the subscription having personally<br \/>\nseen him write and write and subscribe his name and the *** having now<br \/>\nwith care and attention perused and inspected the paper writing ***<br \/>\npurporting to be and ** the last will and Testament and Codicil thereto<br \/>\nof the said deceased the said will beginning as thus \u201cI William<br \/>\nTruro being very ill in body do now declare this to be my last will<br \/>\nand testament *** thus whereto my hand this 3rd day of February 1836<br \/>\nand being thus subscribed William Truro and having an addition thereto<br \/>\nin the words following The names of my trustees Mr. W. Carvofso to hold<br \/>\ndeeds note of hand Mr. J. Mayre Mr. J. Odyers Mr. M. Sloudea of Redruth<br \/>\nMr. R B. Stephens and the said Codicil beginning thus Codicil if any<br \/>\nof my children come old enuff to work away thus as the cost ** the house<br \/>\ncost the parish til they are 21 years old and ** my thus subscribed<br \/>\nand dated William Truro February 19 1836 They have made an hasth made<br \/>\noath that they verily and in their *** believe the whole body sakes<br \/>\nand contents of the said will and Codicil beginning and ending as aforesaid<br \/>\ntogether with the said subscriptions severally set thereto as aforesaid<br \/>\nand also the addition appearing at the foot of the said will in the<br \/>\nwords heretofore *** to be all of the proper handwriting and subscription<br \/>\nof the said William Truro deceased I\u2014I John Brewer I\u2014I F.<br \/>\nJulian on the 15th day of June 1836 the said John Brewer and Flavius<br \/>\nJulian were in duly sworn to the truth of this affidavit by the ***<br \/>\nof the *** heretofore *** before Edward Hoblyn Commissioner.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: Brush Script MT; font-size: medium;\">Proved<\/span> at London with<br \/>\na Codicil 11 July 1836 before the Judge by the oath of Mary Truro Widow<br \/>\nthe Robert William Carvofso Jonathon Maye James Odyero and Richard Baker<br \/>\nStephenson of the Executors according to the tenor of the will to whom<br \/>\nadmon ??? was granted having *** first sworn by **** duly to administer<br \/>\npower of making the like grant to Richolson Isandra the other Executor<br \/>\naccording to the tenor of the said will when he shall apply for the<br \/>\nsame.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Will of William Truro February 3, 1836 I William Truro being very ill in body do now declare this to be my last will and testament.
